About NAMI Illinois

 

NAMI Illinois members believe that continuing research into the causes of serious and prolonged Neurobiological illnesses, improved treatment methods and service systems, is essential.

We welcome all who have felt alone because of serious mental illness within the family.  We hope you will join us in the rapidly growing network of people who are dedicated to the welfare of persons with mental illness.

What NAMI Illinois Does:

NAMI Advocates                                                           

Brings the need of persons with mental illness and their families to the attention  of  legislators, service providers, medical staff, and the general public.

Protects the rights of persons with mental illness.
Presses for added community support services.

NAMI Supports

Focusing on family-to-family and consumer-to-consumer support and interaction through support group meetings.

NAMI C.A.R.E. Mutual Support (Consumers Advocating Recovery through Empowerment) NAMI CARE is a peer-based mutual support group program for individuals facing the challenges of recovering from any serious mental illness.

NAMI Educates

Provides training and educational materials for families, persons with mental illness and professionals.
